MICHAEL HERRMANN APPOINTED GENERAL MANAGER

Michael Herrmann has been appointed General Manager at the InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casino, a AAA 4-Diamond Resort in Isla Verde, and Regional Director of Operations in the Caribbean for InterContinental Hotel Group’s (IHG) Latin America-Caribbean Division.

 

Herrmann replaced Sharon Kilmartin at the InterContinental San Juan, who was promoted to Regional Director of Operations for the 189-room InterContinental Stephen F. Austin and the 485-room InterContinental Houston Hotels.

 

As General Manager at the InterContinental San Juan, Herrmann is responsible for the 402-room beachfront resort, including oversight and management of the 400-plus staff, rooms, and food and beverage operations with the objective of maintaining the highest levels of guest satisfaction.

 

He is also responsible as Regional Director of Operation in the Caribbean for IHG in creating synergies, economic opportunities and overseeing all managed and franchised properties in the region including the Holiday Inn Mayaguez & Tropical Casino and the Holiday Inn Ponce & Tropical Casino. 

 

Herrmann brings a wealth of experience and is a results-oriented operations specialist with 35 years of experience in the hotel industry, of which 19 years have been devoted to InterContinental Hotels & Resorts.

RUTH'S CHRIS REOPENS ON NOVEMBER 23RD

Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Isla Verde famous for its aged USDA Prime steaks, fresh seafood, signature side dishes and homemade desserts, all complemented by an award-winning wine list is scheduled to reopen under new management on November 23.

 

Local restaurateurs, WOW Restaurant Group, have acquired the Ruth’s Chris Steak House franchise rights at the InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casino in Isla Verde.  WOW Restaurant Group, who has over 20 years of experience operating restaurants in Puerto Rico.  

FELIX MULERO APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF FOOD & BEVERAGE

Mulero, who has over 20 years of experience in food and beverage operation, is responsible of overseeing a team of 135 employees, 15 managers and supervisors including the culinary team.

 

“Felix is well-known in the Puerto Rico hospitality industry and the team is thrilled to welcome him to the InterContinental San Juan,” said Kilmartin. “I am confident that his commitment to service excellence combined with his creative approaches to dining, will further boost our goal to become a gastronomically reputed hotel.”

 

Mulero also previously served in 2004 as assistant director of food and beverage at the InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casino.

 

“It is not often you get an opportunity to rejoin an esteemed organization such as InterContinental and be responsible for the essential planning and operations of food and beverage,” said Mulero. “I am really looking forward to working with the culinary team at InterContinental San Juan to deliver a dining experience that exceeds our guests’ expectations.” 

 

Prior to his appointment at the InterContinental San Juan, Mulero served as the Food and Beverage Director at the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel & Casino.

 

In 2008, Mulero was awarded Restaurateur of the Year by the Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association.

InterContinental San Juan Completing Renovation
The InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casino is undergoing a makeover that includes rooms,lobby area, casino and even the room service menu. Since 2000, when IHG took over the 402-room property, the company has invested more than $42 million to the Isla Verde property to maintain brand appeal. More than 90 percent of the transformation is completed. After a $14 million investment in 2008 which included room, lobby and pool deck renovation, this AAA four-diamond property is getting ready to provide customers a new and improved InterContinental

Chef Campos

Chef Hector Campos, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina began his culinary career 21 years ago after studying at The BUE Trainers, an epicurean school owned by Gate Gourmet Argentina.

 

Campos is responsible for the resort’s two main venues: Alfredo, the InterContinental San Juan Resort’s signature restaurant and Splash, a casual “al fresco” poolside grill as well as the property’s banquets menus.

 

Prior to arriving to San Juan, Campos was the executive chef at the 315-room InterContinental Buenos Aires Hotel in Argentina and also participated in the opening of the Park Hyatt Hotel in Mendoza, Argentina.

 

His talent has led him to finish among the top contenders at the Food of the End of the World in Ushuaia, Argentina and the Bourse d’Or in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
